Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
