Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
