This event resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after exiting a car park lift, police said.

A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were subsequently released.

This event – described by police as was isolated and deemed non-terroristic – caused train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
